Meditation a state of pure consciousness when you learn to let go of memory and thought patterns. Today, this practice is becoming increasingly more popular in the Western way of life. Due to our fast-paced lives bringing in all different types of stress and overwhelming demands, it is beneficial to our mind, body and spirit to take periods of rest. This helps keep our energy systems aligned and clear and can prevent physical ailments.
Our mental chatter can especially get out of hand. I like to challenge people to become more aware of their self-talk and then compare that to how they speak to someone they love. Are there similarities or differences? Many people who suffer with depression and anxiety have negative self-talk or keep their focus mulling over the past or worrying about what is to come. Meditation is a great way to reset these habits and morph them into beneficial, positive and more healthy energies.
Many people use meditation after prayer to open the floor to whom they pray to. If prayer is asking or speaking out to the Universe then meditation is the listening for guidance, answers and inspirations.
Despite my red fellow on the right, meditation can take many more forms than just sitting still and silent. Anything from doing the dishes, gardening, walking in nature, to singing and dancing can be meditative! Personally, one of my favorites is writing. It clears my head of thoughts and pours out guidance. I leave refreshed, reset and ready to take on whatever path I choose next- usually a joyous one!
What is a Guided Meditation?
What I offer is to verbally guide you through a meditative experience. This is a terrific way to begin any kind of healing session in order to bring in all your energy and focus on the intentions you set for the experience. During a guided meditation, you will breathe deeply, relax and listen to the gentle journey that takes you to a calm and peaceful state.
Being guided is a great way to begin your meditation practice because you are given reminders to breath and let go of your swirling thoughts, allowing you to focus on your journey.
