Did we all come to the Earth with billions of fellow humans just to build our own individual lives, stay glued to screens and try our best not to make eye contact? Maybe some did, but I find that connection with others brings me great joy and feelings of harmony and unity. There is something simply sweet and grounding about connecting to strangers for the first time, loved ones on a deeper level and to Earth herself. Just today, I had a complete stranger sit in front of me to chat. I’ll call him Kyle. “Is this seat taken?” he asks. “Nope, it’s not.” I say and so he sits. I see no intentions in his eyes, just a curiosity. “I just walked in here, I didn’t even get a coffee. I just wanted to meet someone.” So we chat about how no one looks up long enough to meet new people. How we both love spontaneous connections, essentially. We even made constant eye contact for 45 seconds as a challenge. Our conversation went on to topics like Reiki and the classes I will be teaching in Raleigh next month and brief descriptions on what we do and who we are. Then, he left with a smile on his face and a shake of my hand. I may never see Kyle again, but he sure left me with a sense of joy and a beautiful reminder. Connection is what it’s all about! We don’t have to walk through this life alone, with our heads down and headphones in. We are constantly surrounded by interesting people that are bound to resonate with us on some level! Look up! Make eye contact and smile! Give a hug! Make a phone call! There is nothing to lose. Only love to gain. Thank you, “Kyle,” for sharing this experience with me! I wish you the greatest blessings on your journey. Thank you to Owl City for this beautiful song!
