Surely I could write on this topic once a month. It’s something that has helped me and my clients keep track of our well-being… Going back to basics!
Do you ever get to a point where you wonder, “What is going on with me? Why do I feel so down? Why don’t I enjoy my practice right now? Why am I so irritable?”
I do! This is when I take a minute and do a “background check.” I ask myself, “Have I been holding myself and wellness as a priority in the past couple of weeks? Have I been committed to my spiritual practice? How’s my diet been? Am I stressed out about something that is ruling my mental and emotional space?” Usually, it becomes clear that I have been distracted from my spiritual practice, been neglecting self-care and/or am in need of some redefining in my life. Many times, if one aspect of my wellness gets off balance the others are soon to follow. Back to basics I go!
For me personally, this means consistently dedicating a time to sit at my alter for meditation, writing, prayer, energy work, etc. I also make sure I’m doing something active like jogging, yoga or both. Last but definitely not least, I make sure that all my beliefs currently at play in my life serve me and what it is I am creating. Even the awareness and intention of going back to basics is enough to shift my energy to a higher place, yet ACTION is key! Take action, build that momentum and feel the difference in your heart and energy.
It’s key to find your basics. What works for you? What grounds you? What clears your energy and energizes you? What do you want to feel? What’s a small step to get to that feeling?
Find your basics, practice them and honor the process. Habits aren’t created overnight yet they can be started in this moment!
