3 Preventative Ideas to Stay in Your Power

8/31/2015

Sometimes we wake up in a certain vibration; a persistent feeling that seems to come from nowhere. We don’t always know why it is there and if it is our own. Even if we do know, what do we do about it?

We can sulk in it and carry it through the day, letting it influence our experience. We could try to source it. We could even blame ourselves and think, “this is just the way I am and how it is.”

Sometimes, there are emotions that need to take their course. For you to fully feel and learn from. Here, we are talking more about the random waves that hit you with no explanation or at times when you are not in a place to process. The important lessons will always come back to you.

Although, if we want to stay in our emotional power and allow ourselves to decide our fate, there are plenty of tools and techniques we can use to let it go and begin to feel better! By teaching these techniques, I help my clients take their power back and I can help you too! Today, I present to you just one way to help yourself before you need help.

That is the good news, we can take action before the wave hits. While we are feeling proactive and positive we can do a few things to help our future selves that are looking to feel better.
  1. Get to know yourself & decide how you enjoy feeling. Who are you right now in this moment? Who do you long to be? What separates the two in your mind?  When you feel your best, what emotion is it you’re feeling?
  2. Create a short list of simple tasks that could get you feeling a step closer to one of the emotions you listed above. Wanting to feel passionate? Read an inspirational story or listen to your favorite music. Productive? Knock out that laundry you’ve been avoiding or write a blog. Peaceful? Go walk in nature or give yourself a 5-minute meditation break. Find what works for you. Experiment!
  3. Keep this list handy & take action! Sometimes this can be the hardest part. Change can be uncomfortable, even when it’s a more positive change. Remember, you are on a journey and it is you decide which path you take.

There is no “quick fix” and nothing to fix. Nothing in you is broken. All emotion is valid and serves a purpose. As you become more sensitive to energy you will experience more waves of unexplainable emotion, but this does not have to rule your life. Sometimes, there are emotions that we need to fully feel and learn from. Here, we are more talking more about the random waves that hit you with no explanation or at times when you are not in a place to process. The important lessons will always come back to you...again and again until you heal what it is that needs healing.

Be kind and patient with yourself. Nourish and nurture yourself. You are worth it! By loving and understanding ourselves we can become confident and strong in our being, even during trying times. I know this because I have done it myself and seen many others do it as well.

You are never alone and help is always waiting. Just ask.

What are some ways you get yourself out of an emotional momentum?

Empathic Crowd Surfing & How to Handle It

What’s it feel like to be an Empath in a crowd?

Here I am, walking down the street with one other person who is attempting to carry a conversation with me. I do my best to listen, process and respond, but the truth is, I am so distracted by the amount of people passing me and all the waves of energy. Every step is like experiencing someone else’s world, or multiple worlds at once. Waves of love… hunger… focus… attention seekers… overwhelming groups… loneliness… laughter… confusion… hate. If you can think of an emotion, I probably felt it within the 20 minutes of walking down this street.

Now, let me say, I am not having an unpleasant experience. Yes, it is an overwhelming feeling, but I myself am not overwhelmed to the point of not functioning (like I used to get in crowds). Until I felt comfortable and empowered by my sensitivity, I would be catalyzed into a state of panic because I couldn’t keep up with what I was feeling and didn’t understand why it was happening. Nowadays, I know what is happening, I’m not surprised by it and I am, in fact, intrigued by it. I enjoy it! Besides missing a lovely conversation with a close friend, I am able to walk by hundreds of people and get to know them on a deeper level than some of their friends know them on. What a gift!

Sometimes, these waves don’t feel so welcome. For those times, there are certain techniques and guides that can help you focus on yourself or whatever it is you want to focus on, even in crowds. That is a big part of what I help my fellow sensitives with- staying in their power despite the absorption of others emotional states. I find that the best thing to do for myself is to go quiet (after I explain to my friend what is happening) and just allow these energies to flow right through me. I experience, observe but I hold on to nothing.

Wouldn’t this be a healthy way to face life in general? How often does it feel like our life events or environments are overwhelming waves of emotion and actions?

Experience...Observe...Let Go...Learn.

No matter how crazy these experiences can make you feel, I promise you that there are ways to thrive as an empath. We aren’t doomed for a life of solitary, but we may need to seek help and explore ways to take our emotional power back and keep it.

Feeling Alone & Why You Don't Need To.

8/6/2015

Did we all come to the Earth with billions of fellow humans just to build our own individual lives, stay glued to screens and try our best not to make eye contact? Maybe some did, but I find that connection with others brings me great joy and feelings of harmony and unity.

There is something simply sweet and grounding about connecting to strangers for the first time, loved ones on a deeper level and to Earth herself.

Just today, I had a complete stranger sit in front of me to chat. I’ll call him Kyle.  “Is this seat taken?” he asks. “Nope, it’s not.” I say and so he sits. I see no intentions in his eyes, just a curiosity. “I just walked in here, I didn’t even get a coffee. I just wanted to meet someone.” So we chat about how no one looks up long enough to meet new people. How we both love spontaneous connections, essentially. We even made constant eye contact for 45 seconds as a challenge. Our conversation went on to topics like Reiki and the classes I will be teaching in Raleigh next month and brief descriptions on what we do and who we are. Then, he left with a smile on his face and a shake of my hand.

I may never see Kyle again, but he sure left me with a sense of joy and a beautiful reminder. Connection is what it’s all about! We don’t have to walk through this life alone, with our heads down and headphones in.
We are constantly surrounded by interesting people that are bound to resonate with us on some level!

Look up! Make eye contact and smile! Give a hug! Make a phone call!

There is nothing to lose.
Only love to gain.

Thank you, “Kyle,” for sharing this experience with me! I wish you the greatest blessings on your journey.
Thank you to Owl City for this beautiful song!
